A ghost light is an electric light that is left on the stage of a theatre when it’s unoccupied and would otherwise be completely dark. Just a simple bulb.
It is said, in a superstitious belief, that its function is to guide the spirits that inhabit the building and prevent them to get lost in the vast emptiness of it at night.
During the pandemic many theatres kept this light permanently on as a way to say “we’re alive and we’ll be back”. A sign of hope.
Writing and arranging the album you’re about to listen contributed to keep the ghost light on in me. I’m happy to share it with you.
